Parent-coach Relationships In Coach Education

Background PRICE was a project about enhancing coach-parent relationships in Youth Sports and how football coaches/managers of clubs around Europe could develop support strategies for parents. The idea of the project started from the problem identified by the members of our collaborative partnership, namely the poor relationship of clubs and coaches with parents.The project team consisted of a consortium of 5 different bodies (from 4 countries), active in the field of sports. Objectives The specific objectives of our project were to develop the skills and competencies of the members of the consortium and for more than 100 coaches local coaches/club managers that will together develop a mechanism of training for coaches and a dialogue mechanism between parents and coaches; to produce educational materials for coaches about how to enhance coach-parent relationship; to promote the benefits of football parenting in the partner countries during the entire period of the project. Implementation The project had 6 work packages, each with different content. The partners were involved in everything, but each partner coordinated one or more work packages, depending on their experiences and skills. The activities carried out during the implementation targeted 4 transnational meetings which included 3 Local Conferences, 4 Orientation meetings and 4 Workshops. Achievements The main results of the project were the following: more than 100 local coaches have been trained in mastering effective coach-parent relationships, 3 PRICE Conferences, 4 PRICE orientation meetings, 1 project site, 1 PRICE guide for coaches, 4 videos about enhancing coach-parent relationships in all the partner countries, 4 PRICE workshops. The partners also carried out other dissemination activities such as: meetings with coaches and parents, workshops at International Scientific Conferences.
