Summary

Background Increasing evidence points to the importance of physical activity for older adults. As a tool for health-enhancing physical activity, the sport movement has a greater influence than any other social movement. Sport is attractive to people and has a positive image. However, the recognized potential of the sport movement to foster health-enhancing physical activity often remains under-utilised and needs to be developed. Therefore, EMAF project was developed to responds to such needs. Objectives EMAF aims to to promote sport as an important part in preventing the impact of many health-related conditions, overcoming also physical, social or cultural barriers that elder people are facing. EMAF stems from the awareness that sport must be fostered among the elderly, as a integrating element in their life, and among young people to improve quality of life conditions to prevent health-related problems, avoiding also the economic burden these issues might have on the health budget. Implementation FIDAL was the project Coordinator in charge of the activities implementation as reported in EMAF AF.Although the pandemic affected project implementation, activities were carried on thanks to dedicated staff able to overcome problems and difficulties mainly related to COVID-19. A strong effort in terms of coordination and management activities as well as a 12 months of extension approved by EACEA, allowed FIDAL to finalize project activities and achieve project objectives and results. Achievements Project results can be mainly resumed as following reported:- Raised participation in sport and physical activity and promote innovation practices in health-sport related sectors-- Enhanced health through sport - Improved European social dialogue in the sport sector- Increased networking and exchange of best practices- Increased social inclusion in and through sport - Strengthened cooperation between EU organizations active in the field of sport and active aging
