European Street Football movement for promotion of street sports and social inclusion (MOVE-Ball)

Background The project European Street Football movement for promotion of street sports and social inclusion (MOVE-Ball) – Ghetto Football Euroleague was proposed in the framework of National events - organised in several Programme Countries by not-for-profit organisations or public bodies active in the field of sport. The project idea was to introduce Social inclusion through sport by integration of young people aged 16-34 of social risk groups at its main focus. Objectives The project aims at creating a European street football movement to stimulate young people to participate in health-enhancing physical activities, increase the role of street football in social inclusion, and promote gender equality and equal opportunities for various incl. risk groups of young inhabitants across Europe and girls’ community into street sports. This was done through organisation of national pop-up street football events in 10 different countries across Europe. Implementation Main activities were:Organisations of national street football pop-up events in 10 different countries across Europe;Organisation of an inter-national street football gala event in Riga gathering teams from all 11 participating countries;Promotion of street football movement to encourage youth to involve in health-enhancing physical activities and street football. Achievements European street football movement to stimulate young people to participate in health-enhancing physical activities was developed with following results:•developed concept framework for street football events;•implementation of 10 national street football pop-up events in cities disregarded areas or so called ghetto’s;•implementation of the inter-national street football gala event;•implementation of communication and dissemination activities.
