Summary

Background Sport breaks down barriers, promotes self-esteem, and can teach life skills and healthy behaviour. Development of life skills is a complex process and with this project we want to provide insight on how this process may occur with young high-level athletes, and to outline current understanding of how sport can achieve positive youth development (i.e., life skills), the role of the environment, and those involved at the ‘microsystem’ level of sport. Objectives Some of the project were:- To develop the skills to reflect critically on and manage one’s own lifestyle,- to encourage young people to have an attitude of aspiration and the desire to set and achieve goals and tolerance; - to value diversity and respecting others, and being prepared both to overcome prejudices and to compromise;- to create and provide strategies which will enhance a person’s ability effectively create behaviors that can influence and motivate with others; Implementation Through the 5 meetings, partner consortium managed to achieve mentioned objective and to produce result. Achievements As a main results of this project a manual "Championskills of athletes" was created, which can be useful not only for the young athletes and athletes in general, but for the youth workers, young people, different types of associations and organization who are dealing with youth, and would like to develop and improve their life skills and contirbute to positive youth development.
