JITA KYOEI - mutual welfare and benefit
โถSummary
Background Judo was developed as an educational method and are based on ethical principles and values. The moral guidelines that judo athletes (judokas) follow make them better even in social life, where they are role models to others. The moral code of judo includes many values, such as respect, solidarity with mutual help, cooperation, responsibility, the courage to do what is right, respect for one's duties, and inclusion and integration. Objectives By adhering to judo values, we can improve our lives and the lives of others. The "JITA KYOEI - Mutual Welfare and Benefit" focuses mainly on the issue of acceptance of diversity, inclusion, peer violence and social activity. Implementation Project consortium developed teaching methodology and educational materials, which are intended for trainers, teachers and anyone who would like to learn how values in sports, especially Judo, can be passed on to young people. In addition to values, the project also promotes inclusion and acceptance of diversity. We implemented the teaching methodology at the transnational and national training courses for young judokas, who were awarded the title of Judo Mediators of Inclusive Values. Achievements Young judokas have shown that they are aware of the importance of the values and ways in which the teachings of shihan Jigoro Kano can be transferred from the judo hall to social life. They became the first generation of Judo Mediators of Inclusive Values. With this title, they became responsible for transferring the universal and judo values and with their behaviour becoming a role model to young children, peers and adults.
