Activate Healthy Lifestyle through Counselling for You
โถSummary
Background In the dichotomy of the type and statute of professions, the evidence indicates that people who had white collar professions or intellectuals change their lifestyle easily by having regular physical exercise practices. People with blue collar or physical requirements have a greater negative impact on the transition to retirement, adopting risk behaviours, including physical inactivity. The ActivV project considered this evidence and focused on healthy lifestyles with former active citizens. Objectives - Develop online communities of practice for awareness and knowledge about healthy active lifestyles.- Empower the emergence of best practices on former active citizensโ awareness and behavioral change.- Inform the target groups about the specific condition of the healthy active lifestyle among former active citizens.- Develop self-report measurement and e-learning content.- Increase sport stakeholders' awareness about the benefits of using online healthy active lifestyle resources. Implementation ActivU brought together 8 sport, senior and education European organisations to certify practitioners and promote healthy active lifestyle among former active citizens. In total, 32 trainers and 64 trainees worked together in each 8 partners countries in a traineeship programme. Before traineeship programme, former active citizens were profiled and screened using a short-form measure, and trainers were trained and certified to intervene with former active citizens through a e-training programme. Achievements Profiling and screening findings suggest that participation in physical activities are low amongst former active citizens and revealed mental health problems. After the implementation of the program, a statistically significant improvement was observed in the participants' satisfaction with their quality of life and a slight improvement in the physical and psychological domains. The results, in general, suggest that physical activity improves the quality of life of the elderly.
