Sport for Every Child: Fit Kids

Background The project Fit Kids encouraged social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport to increase the level of physical activity of children and youngsters with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The developed program was focused on the groups with most obstacles in doing sports activities. Professional experts from the partner countries developed a modular methodology based exercise / sports to address the needs of children with different type of intellectual disabilities. Objectives Projects main objectives were to encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport to increase the level of physical activity of children and youngsters with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Partners developed different project tools to increase the competences of volunteers, teachers and trainers. However, the main tool to achieve the objectives is the specialised modular sport program. Implementation Experts from project partners developed a high-end modular based Physical Education methodology of sport activities, sport games and exercising to improve the level of physical activity and inclusion of youngsters/children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Achievements Project results included a: survey report; modular sport program; guide of best practices; handbook for education of sport activities; E-learning portal; workshop training; online training and sport events.
