Athlete Counsellors Against Match Fixing

Background Match fixing is one of the biggest threats to the integrity of sport, which has increased significantly in recent years (along with the financial problems of the sports sector, exacerbated by the COVID 19 pandemic). Authorities and sport movements around the world have recognised that this is an urgent problem that needs to be addressed in order to preserve the fundamental values of sport in the future. Objectives ACAMF focused on strengthening match-fixing prevention at all levels of sport sector by developing methods and pilot programmes to empower volunteer athletes as specialised counsellors to assist athletes and sport organizations to counter the match-fixing problem in their own areas of responsibility/influence. Therefore, ACAMF has established a link between integrity in sport and the need to create opportunities for dual careers and to support athletes in transition to a life without sport. Implementation The objectives were achieved by developing the following intellectual outputs:IO1 - Match-Fixing Challengebook (survey, good practices)IO2 - Counsellor Athletesโ Training FormatIO3 - Model Programme Against Match-Fixing (training activities, awarness raising campain)IO4 - Manual on Anti Match-Fixing PracticesIO5 - ACAMF Web Platform (with e-learning courses) Achievements The athletes who participated in the project acquired additional knowledge about anti-match fixing and are thus better informed. They also acquired key competences that are important for their future career.The sport sector in the partner countries is better informed about the problem of match-fixing and the discussion on how to solve the problem has started.The sport public in Europe has access to comprehensive and relevant information and workshops on match-fixing published on the web portal
