SEA, SAIL AND SURF FOR PARKINSON
▶Summary
Background Parkinson Disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition that affects nerve cells in the brain that control movement. Even if there is no cure for Parkinson’s, there are many things that can positively influence the course of the disease and enhance the patient’s quality of life. Objectives S4P’s specific objectives were: SP1: to share good practices and knowledge about the role of sea sports, especially sail and surf, in the rehabilitation of people affected by Parkinson disease; SP2: to create multilevel synergies and networks between sea sport clubs and associations dealing with PD patientsIts Overall Objective (O.O.) is to encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport. Implementation In order to reach objectves, the following activities were implemented:WP3- SURVEY ADDRESSED TO PARKINSON’S PATIENTSWP4 BEST PRACTICESWP TRANSNATIONAL MEETINGSWP6-S4P EVENTThe exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices and the active involvement of the target raised awareness about the important role of sea sports on the well-being and rehabilitation of PD patients and facilitated the creation of multilevel and multidisciplinary networks and synergies. Achievements Main results were:-1 survey administrated;-372 responses received;-1 report about answers;-1 compendium about Best practices -3 Transnational Meetings;-1 test done;-knowledge about the role of sea sports, especially sail and surf, in the rehabilitation of people affected by Parkinson disease increased;-synergies and networks between sea sport clubs and associations dealing with PD patients created.
