โถSummary
Background We are aware that the problem of violence and intolerance in sport is not properly addressed in our communities, so we want to make a difference. Our aim is to prevent violence and intolerance in sport through education and promotion of values of respect, courage, gender equality, inclusion and non-violence. By doing this we intend to change the mind sets of people and initiate social change that will provide safer environment for everyone. Objectives - A survey of the existing policies and strategies to tackle violence and intolerance in sport;- Development of educational programs for coaches and other sport professionals about the problem of violence and intolerance in sport;- Development of practical tools to educate children and youth about how to resist bullying, violence, intolerance and discrimination;- Education of coaches about the procedures in case of violence;- Promotion of activities and the results of the project. Implementation During the project lifetime we have created three outputs: 1) report on the existing policies and strategies to tackle violence and intolerance in sport in partner countries; 2) Educational prevention and intervention kit, which consists of practical tools to raise awareness on the topic among children and youth and the educational programme for coaches; 3) SONKEI manual for coaches. We organised 11 Multiplier Sports Events (international and local) and 64 pilot trainings for children and youth. Achievements With the implemented activities we raised awareness about the violence, discrimination and intolerance in sports among coaches, children and youth. We empowered coaches and other sports professionals with the knowledge on how to educate children and youth about the topic and we introduced the protocols on reporting misbehaviours for children, youth and also for coaches. The subject is not taboo anymore, that is why we raised the awareness and how to prevent and intervene in case of misbehaviour.
