Summary

The project “She Sails – Empowering Women to Sail" aims to promote sailing as an active, healthy and accessible lifestyle, regardless of gender, age, capacity, wealth, nationality, social status and previous experience, and to increase gender equality and female involvement in sailing as an active lifestyle and amateur sport activity in project partner countries. Thus, in the longer term to achieve gender equality and ensure equity of opportunity for men and women, boys and girls in sailing, both on and off the water.This project is one more opportunity for women to break the stereotypes and inequality. Project is designed to promote sailing for women, providing them equal opportunities in sailing, and to improve female sail training practices.The objectives of the project are: (1) To encourage more women to find their way into sport and physical activity through sailing in organizing sail training for women. (2) To set a networking platform within project partner countries and external experts (sailing coaches, instructor, former athletes, mentors etc.) to identify common challenges and barriers for women’s involvement in sailing and collect best practices and methodology. (3) To create the Guidance material on Organization of Women Sail Trainings, that could be easily tailored to the needs of others and transferred to other countries and regions in Europe, what would expand the dissemination of project outcomes and enhance the sustainability of the project. (4) To create an awareness-raising campaign to encourage women to try sailing and to promote equal rights and opportunities for women in sailing. (5) To promote women’s equal involvement in sailing as active lifestyle and sport activity in partner countries and internationally.
