Background The project "PLAY", which stands for "Play, Learn and be an Active Youth" was designed to promote traditional sport games from 3 different geographical and cultural regions, highlighting sport as a tool for personal development of teenagers, as well as a valuable instrument for cultural heritage and social inclusion. The main focus of the project was promoting traditional sport and games, motivated by the presence of entities from 3 different geographic and cultural regions of Europe. Objectives 1. Developing a positive attitude of teenagers engaged in the project towards traditional sport and games as a tool for healthy life style 2. Promoting traditional sport and games activities as a tool for supporting good practices and non competitive sense, as well as a cultural heritage and exchange in the participating countries. 3. Increasing the knowledge and skills of 40 sport teachers and coaches from the participating countries (8 for each country) on traditional sport and games. Implementation The project involved 5 partners, including one sport club (Napoli United) 4 NGOs from RO, BG, TR and ES. During the 24 month of the project, the consortium developed 1 manual of traditional sport games from each country, delivered 1 training to sport teachers and coaches based on the findings added in the manual and organized local sport activities promoting traditional sport games from all participating countries. Achievements More than 50 traditional sport and games were gathered and presented in the manual of traditional and sport games from all 5 countries. The games were presented to local sport coaches and teachers in a training and then put into practice with children from local schools, aiming to develop intercultural dimension through sport, as well as increasing participation in grassroots sports in the communities where partners activate.
