Good Governance implementation in volleyball
▶Summary
Background Numerous assessment tools are available but, to our knowledge, a concrete and effective implementation of good governance principles is missing. In the best case scenario, only suggestions for a successful implementation are made. This implementation is wanted -if not requested- by many stakeholders, within or not the volleyball environment, and supported by the highest volleyball governing body. However, such implementation still requires a proper structure, explanation, incentive and support. Objectives Go²Volleyball aims, among others objectives, at:- making available to all an evidence-based, reliable, simple, harmonised and clear information about the compliance status of volleyball governing bodies with good governance principles- concretely and effectively implementing good governance principles within national volleyball governing bodies - facilitating and motivating the participation of national volleyball governing bodies in the implementation of good governance principles. Implementation The aim is to be fulfilled thanks to:- a multi-stage certification system based upon the fulfillment of 75 principles, with mandatory ones, as well as 3 levels of difficulty - template provisions -enforcing said principles- to be included into the regulatory framework of volleyball governing bodies- various tools convincing, supporting and rewarding these bodies- a certificate and a report highlighting achievements, strengths and weaknesses of the implementation. Achievements The multi-stage certification system is ready and available to all volleyball governing bodies worldwide. While the participants to the project are on their way to receive one of the three labels, other volleyball governing bodies (in europe and on other continents) expressed their interest to join or joined already the initiative. This is a success for the sustainability of this initiative. Main international volleyball governing bodies are aware about it and discussion is still ongoing.
