Mapping Access to public Places for Sport for all
▶Summary
The project addresses the topic Encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport. MAPS main objective is to promote the accessibility and the regeneration of abandoned public urban places to generate Sport for All spaces in Europe through interactive mapping, active engagement of sport volunteers and activists, citizens awareness and networking among grassroots sport organizations.This main aim will be pursued through 4 main Specific objectives:1) Analyze and map the situation of abandoned public places (public gardens, squares, building, sports facilities…) that could be regenerated as Sport for All spaces in Europe in order to promote awareness and engagement among citizens, sports stakeholders, public administrations through an interactive digital tool that can be used by citizens and all sport activists in Europe to increase public spaces used for grassroots sports, in a logic of cooperation and scaling up2) Promote and improve a good practice developed by grassroots sport activists for a bottom up approach in promoting right to sport for all and accessibility to sport and physical activities in public areas organized by sport activists 3) Give citizens more power and public authorities more awareness on the relevance of grassroots sport and physical activity for all, to spread wellbeing, social inclusion and active lifestyle, especially targeting marginalized and less active groups of the population4) Promote dialogue and cooperation and European networking between local authorities and stakeholders, grassroots sport organizations, sports institutions and citizens in order to increase access to sports for all targets of population, contributing to foster active and healthy lifestyle, community engagement, urban regeneration through sport. It will be develop 3 main transnational events in 18 months, involving 4 partner organizations from 3 European countries, including an European network on grassroots sport.
