Summary

Background Sport is a social and economic phenomenon that contributes significantly to achieving the strategic objectives of the European Union. It can be the instrument of local and regional development as well as rural development linked to the European Green Deal announced by the European Commission in December 2019. Running has become a mass sport, generating a significant economic impact, constituting a catalyst for rural tourism and local economic development. Objectives The general objective of the project is to support the mobility of volunteers, coaches, managers and staff of non-profit sport organisations. For this achievement, the project has the specific goal of promoting transnational sports activities linked to mountain running that enable green economic development to small municipalities, facing with greater guarantees, the economic crisis that COVID 19 will generate. Implementation The project is focus on the elaboration of a green strategies for generating economic impact and local development through running activities, which serves as a guide for public authorities in rural areas. During each stay in the different cities, each project partner presents a series of strategies to prosper in the socio-economic and environmental policy of their region. The other partners get ideas to adapt their actions to the European environmental and spots policy and to their reality. Achievements The project fulfilled the following results:●creation of a strategy that serves as a basis for rural communities to achieve development through mountain running; ●to sensitize public authorities and population about European values, the Green Deal and the links between sport, economics and development within the framework of the European Union post Covid-19 strategy.
